Arriving too late to see the support Jayler – the last 40 seconds – we were impressed with the response of the nice large crowd. It was obvious that they went down well, and whilst talking to a fellow media acquaintance, inquiring into what he thought of Jayler, his answer intrigued us. He said, “You mean young Led Zep?” When we asked, he said they reminded him of a young Plant, and an embryonic Greta Van Fleet, praise indeed, so we can’t wait for a chance to catch this young band next time.

Now for Kira Mac. We first saw them at the very small Brum Asylum, just after their first album ‘Chaos Is Calling’ was released, and god they were good. Caught them again at Steelhouse Festival, where even a big downpour couldn’t stop them going out onto the stage into the crowd absolutely soaked, they aced it. Now again tonight in the cracking KK’s, even with a couple of band member changes, they have chemistry. Fronted by the very talented Rhianon Hill, in great form, blasting through all the well known and loved songs off the ‘Chaos’ album, ‘Mississippi Swingin’, ‘Save Your Whiskey’, and title track ‘Chaos Is Calling’, were belted out with vigour. The crowd loving this, but we noticed that the newer songs were slightly heavier, more akin to one of our favourite bands, Halestorm. Songs named ‘Farewell’ and ‘Climbing’, although new to the nicely packed KK’s, were received very well indeed, which is a good sign. And there was a nice couple of covers, one ‘Say Something’, and Alanis Morissette’s ‘You Oughta Know’, nice touch. Kira Mac are just getting started, and with the right exposure the sky’s the limit. Just hurry up with the album, please.
