Artist News:

World-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli has announced his first-ever headline concert in Wales as part of the inaugural Land of Song Festival, taking place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday 8 May 2027.

The historic performance will mark a major moment for Welsh music, bringing one of the world’s most celebrated classical artists to the heart of Wales for a spectacular evening of opera and unforgettable music.

Inspired by Wales’ reputation as the Land of Song, the new biennial festival will celebrate the country’s rich choral heritage, bringing together world-class artists, choirs and music fans from Wales and around the globe.

Bocelli’s stadium concert will feature the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera alongside a breathtaking massed choir, creating what promises to be the biggest operatic event ever staged in Wales. Fans can expect a special set featuring some of Bocelli’s most beloved songs, including selections from his iconic 1997 album Romanza, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027.

Taking place in a fully seated indoor setting with the stadium roof closed, the concert will combine the scale of a major stadium performance with an intimate atmosphere and world-class acoustics.

The celebrations will continue on Sunday 9 May, when more than 20,000 choristers from Wales, the UK and beyond will come together for Côr World Choir, one of the largest mass choral gatherings ever held in Wales.

With Andrea Bocelli’s landmark performance launching the festival, Land of Song aims to become a major international celebration of music, community and Wales’ world-famous singing tradition, with further announcements expected soon.

Maestro Andrea Bocelli said, “Throughout my career I have been fortunate to perform in many extraordinary places around the world, and I am thrilled to be making my first headline appearance in Wales. The country’s rich choral heritage and deep connection with music make this city a fitting setting for this special concert, and I am looking forward to an unforgettable evening in Cardiff.”
