First on tonight, a new band for us, Beltane Moon and they were very good indeed, with a short but catchy set, got the crowd going nicely. Hard to explain exactly how you would describe them. Bit proggy at times, with touches of Jefferson Airplane. Rock either way, with some impressive guitar playing. We will be on the lookout for another chance to see them hopefully in a full set to see what else they have – interesting.

And now to main act, Hot Property. These young guys are fully grounded in the seventies and there’s nothing wrong with that. In a packed-out Birmingham Dead Wax, they are keeping the spirit of The Stones alive, and boy they can rock out. ‘Aint That a Lotta Love’ is a prime example, riff-laden and very catchy. The crowd were loving it, and you can see how they have quickly amassed 50k followers already. They even had Sir Rodney Stewart turn up to a gig to sing with them, whilst acknowledging that they reminded him of his old band, The Faces. They obviously had to do a Stones song and tonight it’s ‘Honky Tonk Women’. Also sneaked into the set was a T. Rex cover.

Cracking night, cracking band, cracking vibe. Can’t wait to see them on a larger stage. Rock On!
