Artist Bio:

Texas are a Scottish band fronted by singer Sharleen Spiteri, known for their distinctive blend of pop, rock and soul. Formed in Glasgow in 1986, they first made their mark with debut album Southside and the hit single ‘I Don’t Want A Lover’.

Their breakthrough continued with White On Blonde, released in 1997. The album topped the UK Albums Chart, achieved six-times platinum status and delivered five Top 10 singles, including ‘Say What You Want’ and ‘Black Eyed Boy’. Its mix of soulful vocals, trip-hop influences and catchy melodies helped establish Texas as one of the UK’s best-loved bands.

With a career spanning decades, Texas have continued to release music and perform live for generations of fans. In 2027, they will celebrate 30 years of ‘White On Blonde’ with a special anniversary release, new single ‘Another Way To Cry’ and a UK and European arena tour.

Artist News:

Texas will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their landmark album White On Blonde with a special anniversary release, a new single and a UK and European tour in 2027.

The Scottish band will play arenas across the UK and Europe, including London’s The O2 on 27 October 2027, giving fans the chance to hear songs from one of the defining albums of their career.

Originally released on 5 February 1997, ‘White On Blonde’ became a huge success, reaching Number One in the UK Albums Chart and earning six-times platinum certification. Blending soul, trip-hop and pop, the record produced five Top 10 singles and helped cement Texas as one of Britain’s most successful bands.

“It didn’t feel risky because no-one at our label gave a shit,” frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri recalls of the attitude towards the band in the UK ahead of White On Blonde. “We were in Glasgow, we made the album in my house and I did all the vocals in the coat cupboard. We had nothing to lose, and anyway, I didn’t want to fit in. If everybody’s doing something, I’m always running in the opposite direction and that’s always been the attitude – whether it’s walking on stage at Glastonbury, or with White On Blonde. It’s always been us saying: We will play our own tune. If you want to jump on, great. If you hate us, fine. But this is what we want to do.”

To mark the anniversary, Texas have also released new single ‘Another Way To Cry’. The track arrives with a video filmed in the Scottish Highlands, featuring frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri alongside longtime friend and actor Robert Carlyle. Directed by Niall Trask, the video pays tribute to the film Paris, Texas, which inspired the band’s name.

The special 30th anniversary edition of White On Blonde will be released in several formats, including vinyl for the first time, a double-LP edition, a double CD and digital formats. The release also features sleeve notes from comedian and longtime friend of the band Peter Kay.

If all this momentum and excitement feels like the start of something new, then fans might not have long to wait until Texas reveal their next moves. “It’s to be continued,” Spiteri winks. “Don’t worry, we won’t make you hold your breath too long…”

Having reminded fans of just how good they are, Texas look set to enter an exciting new chapter, with the best of their career potentially still to come.
