Artist Bio:
Angine de Poitrine are a Canadian experimental rock duo from Quebec, known for their intricate microtonal math rock, surreal stage presence and colourful papier-mâché costumes. Made up of the enigmatic Khn de Poitrine and Klek de Poitrine, the pair have carved out a distinctive place in the music scene with their unconventional sound, striking visual identity and playful approach to performance.
The duo’s music combines complex rhythms, hypnotic repetition and microtonal melodies, using unusual guitar techniques to create a sound that is as disorientating as it is compelling. At the centre of their setup is a distinctive two-necked guitar, which helps them build layers of intricate instrumental music without relying on a conventional rock band line-up.
Despite their deliberately bizarre appearance and gobble-de-gook stage language, Angine de Poitrine’s musicianship is at the heart of their appeal. Their performances balance technical precision with a sense of absurdity, creating a live experience that feels unlike anything else on the contemporary rock circuit.
The band reached a much wider audience in 2026 after a live performance filmed for KEXP in Rennes, France, during Trans Musicales in late 2025 went viral on YouTube. The session introduced their unusual sound and larger-than-life characters to music fans around the world, turning them from a relatively underground act into one of the year’s most talked-about musical discoveries.
They followed their growing success with the release of their second album, ‘Vol.2’, in 2026. The record helped build on the attention surrounding their live performances, while their first UK shows sold out quickly. Demand led to further dates at larger venues, alongside appearances at festivals including Manchester Psych Fest and End of the Road Festival.
Angine de Poitrine have also impressed audiences at The Great Escape Festival and during shows in Leeds and London, demonstrating that their appeal goes well beyond their viral reputation. With their combination of experimental musicianship, surreal humour and an unmistakable visual style, the duo continue to challenge expectations of what a rock band can be.
