Artist Bio:
RAYE is a British singer-songwriter from South London who has become one of the UK’s most successful and distinctive musical talents. Known for her powerful vocals, honest songwriting and ability to move between pop, R&B, soul, jazz and dance music, she has built a career on doing things her own way.
RAYE first came to wider attention as a songwriter and featured artist, working with a range of established names while developing her own sound. She wrote for artists including Beyoncé, John Legend and Little Mix, and appeared on hit tracks such as Jax Jones’ ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘Younger’ with Jonas Blue. Her early success helped establish her as both a performer and a songwriter with a distinctive voice.
After years of releasing music while working within the industry, RAYE made headlines when she publicly spoke about her experience with her former record label and her desire to release her debut album. She went on to release her independent debut, ‘My 21st Century Blues’, in 2023. The album included ‘Escapism.’ featuring 070 Shake, which became her first UK No.1 single and a global hit, as well as ‘Ice Cream Man’, a raw and personal song addressing sexual assault.
The success of ‘My 21st Century Blues’ reached a new high at the 2024 BRIT Awards, where RAYE won six awards, including Album of the Year. It was a historic night, making her the artist with the most BRIT Awards wins in a single year. She has also received an Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year and earned international recognition for her work.
RAYE followed her breakthrough with her second album, ‘THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.’, released in March 2026. The 17-track record moves through four musical ‘seasons’, blending pop, R&B, jazz, big band, soul and orchestral influences. Its themes of resilience and finding hope through difficult times have helped establish another important chapter in her career.
Her catalogue includes songs such as ‘Prada’ with Cassö and D-Block Europe, ‘Secrets’ with Regard, ‘Oscar Winning Tears.’, ‘Worth It.’ and ‘WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!’, which reached No.1 in the UK and passed one billion Spotify streams. Across her career, RAYE has achieved more than 10 billion cumulative streams and 20 UK Top 40 singles.
RAYE is also known for bringing a theatrical quality to her live performances. Her ‘My 21st Century Symphony’ shows at the Royal Albert Hall and The O2 in London combined her songs with a full orchestra and choir, offering a new perspective on her music. The Royal Albert Hall performance was released as ‘Live At The Royal Albert Hall’ and went on to receive a Grammy nomination for Best Music Film.
With her ability to combine personal storytelling, musical ambition and powerful live performances, RAYE has become one of the most prominent British artists of her generation. Her continued success reflects both her talent as a performer and her reputation as a songwriter who is unafraid to be open and experiment with different sounds.
