Zara Larsson

Since winning the Swedish version of Got Talent at the age of 10, Zara Larsson has notched up a nice little run of hit singles including a couple of radio classics, ‘Symphony’, ‘Ruin My Life’ and ‘Lush Life’. Now onto her fourth album ‘Venus’, she looks to continue her success, as proof tonight has been a sell out for a long while. The staging and production were high quality, and with Zara coming on kicking off with ‘Venus’ the title track of the album, it was obvious to all in the quite hot and sweaty O2 tonight that we were in for a good night of classy dance pop. And boy did they enjoy it, singing their little heads off as Larsson danced and sang her heart out, and she can move, keeping up with the four dancers easily, with faultless vocals banging out catchy tune after catchy tune. With the crowd occasionally drowning out Larsson’s vocals, not joking, and for a lady just 26 years old, she showed that she is a mature performer who will be around for quite a while yet.

The setlist consisted of eight songs off the album ‘Venus’, which meshed with the older stuff really well. Is there anything new in the set list and album? Well no, not really, but why mess with what works, after all, it’s not that easy to sell out venues these days, and looking round at the smiling, singing faces, I am sure it doesn’t bother them. They were just loving dancing and singing along, and Zara Larsson is still a very young lady, plenty of time to get experimental later. Go for it girl.
