U2 are heading back on the road with The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour in 2027, with stadium shows planned across the globe. UK dates are yet to be announced, with further tour details expected in the coming weeks.

U2 are one of the most successful and influential rock bands of all time. Formed in Dublin in 1976, the group features vocalist Bono, guitarist The Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr., whose partnership has remained at the heart of the band for five decades.

U2 first rose to prominence in the early 1980s with albums including ‘Boy’, ‘October’ and ‘War’. The latter featured ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ and ‘New Year’s Day’, songs that helped establish their reputation for combining powerful rock music with political and social themes. Their breakthrough continued with ‘The Unforgettable Fire’ and the worldwide success of ‘The Joshua Tree’ in 1987, which topped charts around the world and featured classics such as ‘With or Without You’ and ‘Where the Streets Have No Name’.

The band continued to evolve throughout the 1990s, experimenting with electronic sounds and alternative rock on albums such as ‘Achtung Baby’ and ‘Zooropa’. Their ambitious ZOO TV Tour became a landmark in live performance, using video screens, satellite links and other technology to create a show unlike anything audiences had seen before.

U2 returned to a more stripped-back rock sound with ‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’ in 2000, featuring the hit singles ‘Beautiful Day’ and ‘Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of’. Further albums, including ‘How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb’, ‘No Line on the Horizon’ and ‘Songs of Innocence’, continued to expand their catalogue and bring their music to new generations of fans.

With more than 170 million records sold worldwide, U2 have earned numerous awards, including 22 Grammy Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Their music has often explored themes of faith, love, conflict, justice and human connection, while their work as a live band has consistently pushed the boundaries of stadium performance.

In recent years, U2 have continued to find new ways to bring their music to audiences, including a celebrated run of 40 sold-out shows at Sphere in Las Vegas. U2 are hitting the road again, with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. set to return to stadiums for The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour in 2027, with further dates planned beyond next year.

The tour will kick off in Mexico City in February 2027, with Beck joining as special guest. São Paulo and Buenos Aires have also been confirmed, marking the only three Latin American cities on the tour’s schedule for next year. European and North American dates are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, with plans also underway for the band’s long-awaited return home to Ireland.

The tour will support U2’s forthcoming 16th studio album, ‘Carnaval De Luz’, and arrives alongside the release of the new single ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’. Co-written by U2 and Brian Eno, the track is the third single from the album and explores the story of lovers fighting to keep faith in each other, as well as faith itself. The accompanying video, directed by Anton Corbijn and filmed in the Californian desert, takes a satirical look at the band as a religious cult.

The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour will see them return to stadiums, bringing together the scale of their renowned live shows with a focus on human connection and intimacy.

Fans can expect a setlist spanning U2’s extensive catalogue, as the band return to stadium touring for the first time since concluding The Joshua Tree Tour in Mumbai on 15 December 2019. That tour played to almost three million fans worldwide.
