Tove Lo

As this is our first time of seeing Swedish dance pop star Tove Lo, and I think we are in the minority judging by the packed Institute tonight, we were a little shocked when she came on in a gold striped costume complete with false nipples and large white boots. Apparently, which was quite evident, she is a bit of a shock performer and is very at ease with showing off her body. This was even more obvious later after a costume change into a very stylish grey mac that came apart at different times, exposing a very opaque bra and pant set up, and even exposing her bare breasts briefly, which apparently is normal practice. But she is not just a fashion shocker, she is an excellent performer, having the crowd eating out of her hands and the very vocal attendees singing and dancing all night.

With a set of very catchy dance pop tunes featuring a lot of songs from her newest album ‘Dirt Femme’, nine to be exact, made it more like a big disco party. And there was yet another costume change, this time to silver reflective Boudicca looking corset, and continued the dance themed onslaught, the crowd loving this. She knows what they want, and she gives it to them. The strobe lighting and staging was excellent, but it was her vocals that stood out and were on point all night. A great night to let your hair down and party to be sure.
