Following the release of their critically acclaimed eighth studio album ‘Encore’ last year, the influential ska legends music remains embedded in the British music scene. After forming in Coventry back in 1977 and dropping their self-titled debut album in 1979, they made a statement with their unique punk infused ska sound that also tackled homegrown political issues.

The band have released seven successful studio albums and six live albums to date. Their debut single Gangsters shot to No.6 in the UK with every subsequent single a top 10 hit, including two No.1 tracks in the form of ‘Too Much Too Young’ and the much-loved ‘Ghost Town’, which was awarded the title of ‘Single of the Year 1981’ by NME, Melody Maker and Sounds.

Encore was the first new studio album to come from The Specials in over 38 years and received high praise from critics and fans alike. The release once again cemented their legendary status as they continue to inspire the next generation of politically motivated acts.

The Specials are Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter.
