We have been waiting to get to see Starset for quite a while now after seeing them supporting some band, we can’t remember who, being struck not only by their songs but their very spacey image. Well obviously, due to the pandemic this was rescheduled, but the wait was worth it. With their loud, alt/hard/symphonic rock sound, and post-apocalyptic stage image. All the band dressed in grey futuristic clothes, complete with red light implant on the side of their heads. Previewed with the song, ominously titled ‘It Has Begun’, which was explained in a five minute video presentation, that it was an implant that released your most imaginative thoughts, but ended with a slightly sinister tone, intriguing.

On the downside of their stage image is that the lighting is stark, very stark, with loads of back lighting and smoke, and virtually no front lighting which made the photography very trying. Extremely hard to be honest, great to watch, but not easy photography. With tunes like ‘Manifest’, ‘Trials’, ‘Infected’ and ‘Demons’, it is obvious that they don’t really play love songs, but that doesn’t mean they are not melodic. Loud and heavy yes, but with some catchy hook lines. The large crowd in KK’s tonight loved this very visual show and the queues for the merchandise were very long. As for their newish album ‘Horizons’, it seems that Starset are making up for lost time.
