Madness are one of the UK’s most beloved bands, known for their infectious blend of ska, pop and new wave, as well as a catalogue of songs that have become part of British music culture.
Formed in Camden, London in 1976, Madness rose to fame during the late 1970s and early 1980s as part of the ska revival. Their breakthrough came with hits including ‘One Step Beyond’, ‘Baggy Trousers’ and ‘House of Fun’, while songs such as ‘It Must Be Love’, ‘Our House’ and ‘Driving in My Car’ helped establish the band as one of the UK’s most successful groups.
Led by Suggs, Madness have built a career spanning more than four decades, with their distinctive sound and playful approach earning them a loyal following across generations. Their music combines upbeat ska rhythms with pop melodies, witty lyrics and stories inspired by everyday British life.
The band’s albums include ‘One Step Beyond…’, ‘Absolutely’, ‘7’, ‘The Rise & Fall’ and ‘Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie’. Their extensive catalogue has produced numerous UK Top 10 singles and albums, with ‘Our House’ becoming one of their most internationally recognised songs.
