If you like your country on the popier side, and if you’re in the Birmingham Institute tonight you’re in for great time. On stage tonight is the very talented Ingrid Andress, she is a star in ascendance. After writing or co-writing for other artists like Charli XCX, she decided that she that she wanted to sing her own songs instead of hearing others do it. I think she made the right decision, and I would guess all in the sold-out Institute 2 tonight would agree. With an assured performance and a sense of humour, she will most definitely be one to watch as the songs on her second and latest album ‘Good Person’ show a maturity belying her years. With already a handful of platinum singles like ‘More Hearts Than Mine’, ‘Lady Like’, the title track from her debut album, and the most recent, the rollicking ‘Wishful Drinking’, she knows how to write a tune and performs them with gusto. Definitely not a stationary performer Ms Andress, and we look forward to seeing this corker of a performer again.
