Mike Skinner returns with The Streets new single ‘Brave St Andrew’, out now via Skinner’s own label, 45th Generation Roman.

Set against the backdrop of a new chapter for Birmingham City Football Club, ‘Brave St Andrew’ taps into the deep emotions of a fanbase well-acquainted with underachievement, heartbreak, and hope. From the terraces of St Andrew’s to the heart of the city, the song stands as a powerful anthem of loyalty, resilience, and identity – qualities that have long defined both the club and its supporters.

The track was specially written for the new Prime Video documentary “Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues.”

The series follows the behind-the-scenes transformation of the club under new ownership, as NFL icon Tom Brady and American businessman Tom Wagner join forces to turn around the fortunes of a team long defined by bad luck – but never lacking in spirit.

The release also arrives as Skinner continues to expand his creative world across multiple platforms. His acclaimed feature film, ‘The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light,’ is now available to watch for free on YouTube, giving fans a no-barriers look into his most ambitious project to date.

Additionally, Skinner has been releasing a series of “making of” YouTube videos, offering behind-the-scenes insight into the creative process behind each new track.

The Streets broke through in 2002 with the Mercury Prize nominated ‘Original Pirate Material’ – widely regarded as one of the most influential British albums of recent times, whose impact on culture and UK music can still be felt to this day.

Four BRIT Award nominations for Best Album, Best Urban Act, Best Breakthrough Artist and Best British Male Solo Artist followed. ‘Dry Your Eyes’, from follow-up album ‘A Grand Don’t Come For Free’ (2005), won an Ivor Novello for Best Song Musically And Lyrically, with Skinner receiving a BRIT Award that same year, for best British Male Solo Artist.

Since then, The Streets have released further LPs ‘The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living’ (2006), ‘Everything Is Borrowed’ (2008), ‘Computer and Blues’ (2011) as well as 2020 mixtape ‘None Of Us Are Getting Out of This Alive’.

Mike Skinner’s latest album, ‘The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light’ (2023), marks his return with a full-length project that blends his trademark spoken-word style with vivid, cinematic storytelling. Accompanied by a self-directed film of the same name, the album spins a noir-inspired tale across gritty beats and UK garage, and introspective themes of fame, identity, and survival.
