The legendary singer-songwriter recently revealed that his brand-new album ‘Lovin’ You’ is due out on 03 October 2025.
The full-length will be his seventh solo album to date, and first all-new album since 2018s ‘Natural Rebel’ and 2021s ‘Acoustic Hymns, Vol. 1’.
First single ‘Lover’ interpolates Joan Armatrading’s classic ‘Love And Affection’ and earned the praise of the songwriter herself: “I love how he’s used my song and I love his song.”
The songs on ‘Lovin’ You’ were written by Ashcroft, who co-produced the album with Chris Potter and Emre Ramazanoglu. It will also feature track ‘I’m A Rebel’, which was co-written and produced with Mirwais of Madonna fame.
With a career spanning three decades, Richard Ashcroft is a two-time Ivor Novello Award winner (Songwriter of the Year and Outstanding Contribution To British Music), and one of the most accomplished and influential songwriters around.
His first chapter with The Verve reached a remarkable peak with ‘Urban Hymns’, a hit-laden record featuring tracks like ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’, ‘Lucky Man’, ‘Sonnet’. The full-length is one of the biggest selling albums in UK history with 11 x Platinum certifications. The band achieved a second No.1 album with ‘Forth’ and won three BRIT Awards.
His solo career continued that acclaim with his debut ‘Alone With Everybody’ reaching No.1 and all five subsequent studio albums landing between the No.2 and No.5 spots.
Between The Verve and his solo work, he has achieved three UK No.1 albums and another five Top 10 records, plus a No.1 single and five Top 10 hits.
