Tonight, in the cavernous Warehouse – it’s our first time here – we get to see Palaye Royale. It seems ages since we saw them headlining their biggest UK date at London’s OVO Wembley Arena, which was a brilliant gig, by a brilliant band.
One of the most exciting bands about, they have been on the road supporting their album, ‘Death Or Glory’, for 18 months and this is their penultimate gig. To be honest it has taken a little toll on Remington’s voice, not quite as strong, but saying that a Remington’s voice at 85% is better than most anyway. It wasn’t helped by a poor sound, but then there were other technical issues as well, interrupting several songs. We don’t know if that was normal standard for the Warehouse, but hopefully not. Even so the energy from the band is insane. Remington never still for a second, from the start, with the title track, ‘Death Or Glory’, right to the finale of ‘For You’. In between we enjoyed the full on Palaye Royale experience, even throwing in a cover of Seven Nation Army for good measure. We had the usual massive balloons in the crowd, and Remington crowd surfing in a large blow-up raft, always a crowd pleaser.
Well with the Death Or Glory Tour finished, we hope it’s not too long before we get another dose of Palaye Royale. And after a rest, we need another album and tour, please.
