The album was born out of Kyle Falconer’s songwriting retreats at his La Sierra Casa studio in Alicante, Spain. Written, performed and produced by the Scottish musician alongside Andy Gannon (Courteeners, DMA’S) throughout 2025, the full-length features a diverse cast of collaborators drawn from the retreat’s guest list. Contributors include Justin Hawkins (The Darkness), Jamie Webster, Lottery Winners and Dave McCabe (The Zutons).

Speaking about the album, Falconer commented, “The title came once we really got into making the songs. Every day I was picking the kids up from school saying, ‘I’ve got another cracker!’ I’d blast the tracks in the car, my wife would come in too — seeing their reactions made it feel like something special was happening.”

“It was Christmas 2024, out in the Spanish countryside, in the middle of nowhere. There was nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, and that gave it a strange but brilliant energy. My songs are dark, but they’re also happy — I love that oxymoron. I love horror films and that sense of collective madness.”

Discussing lead single ‘Midas Touch’, Falconer added, “I wanted someone who wasn’t known for pop, and Pete felt like an obvious choice. He was playing in Edinburgh, so I took my kids to see him — he even had his baby there. Backstage during soundcheck he said it sounded like Michael Jackson. Singing and dancing along with one of my heroes was pretty special.”

Lovely Night of Terror is available to pre-order now.

‘Night of Terror’ marks Falconer’s fourth solo album, following 2018s ‘No Thank You’, 2021s ‘No Love Songs For Laura’ and 2025s ‘The One I Love The Most’.
