This is our first time at the excellent Country Calling Festival, and we hope it’s not our last! But due to unforeseen circumstances we missed the Saturday, and we were gutted as apart from a very varied line-up, the atmosphere and facilities were spot on. Whatever your country music taste, it was all there, with knobs on.
We were treated to top class performances, and at least with the disappointment of missing Saturday, we had four of our favourite bands; Morganway, First Time Flyers, Kezia Gill and Brooke Law, who had a not-so-secret big fan, he worked on the big barbeque stall! He must go to the gym as he had made a sign and held it aloft all through her set, superb. And as usual they all tore the stage up, and kudos to Kezia, who was suffering from the lurgies, and still gave an outstanding performance, helped by whiskey and night nurse! With a choice of three stages and a tent, we came across some very interesting artists. Gasoline and Matches, who were superb, interesting three girl group, July Moon, and a special mention to a scouse gentleman named, Tom Hodge, performing on stage for the first ever time, kept his audience glued to their hay bale seats, which to be honest were hard to get as this stage proved very popular all day.
Away from the music, which is obviously the main attraction, there were classic and sport cars, and the line dancing in the tent was always busy, with expert tuition no less. I think everyone attending will be back next year, and we hope to be too!
