Benson Boone – Utilita Arena Birmingham – 15 March 2026

Tonight we have the rescheduled concert by the back flipping Benson Boone, which coincidently is the final gig on his American Heart World Tour. He promised the very loud crowd he would give it everything he had, but I suspect that he always does anyway.

With a big chunk of the concert Birmingham audience being quite young, and very vocal in a high register, it was sometimes hard to hear Benson to be honest. Straight into the fast-paced, ‘I Wanna Be The One You Call’, with the afore mentioned shrieks, the set was just what the audience wanted: an hour and forty minutes of hits, and what could have been hits, only slowing down on a few occasions, with ‘In The Stars’ and ‘Man In Me’, and the incredible, ‘Momma Song’ which he dedicated to all the mothers in the arena tonight on Mother’s Day. With his charming personality and incredible voice, he has the crowd in his palm of his hands. With a walkway to a smaller stage in the middle, to which a piano was occasionally lowered down, he played and duly back flipped from, to add to the excitement of the fans.

Banging out the big singles like ‘Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else’ and ‘Mystical Magical’. Although it didn’t matter what he sang, the crowd went wild. After leaving the stage with an all-mighty dive off the back of the stage, we all thought we knew what the encore would be, but as he can often do, he came on with a white sleeveless t-shirt and told everyone to follow him. Stomping and clapping everyone instantly recognising Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’. And low and behold who appears, only Sir Brian May, to an almighty roar from the crowd. Followed by ‘We Are The Champions’, incredible, and great to see May again, fit and playing superbly.

Of course, the mega single, ‘Beautiful Things’, finished the night off, with one of the loudest singalongs from the audience. It was some night and I would guess even parents who came along to bring their sons and daughters to their possibly first gig, would have gone home Benson Boone fans. He is some performer and it wouldn’t surprise me if this very talented man achieves even bigger things in the future. Oh, and by the way, the back flip count was nine.
