This is one of those fairytale stories. Young girl busks on the streets of Cork, uploads to a YouTube channel, attracts a lot of subscribers, (now over six million!), plays an Adele song on Ellen DeGeneres, signs five-year deal with One Republics, Ryan Tedders record label, and releases a covers album. And, after appearances and support slots for OneRepublic, here we have the next step, a headline tour. So, let’s see what she can do.

It’s obvious watching YouTube videos of Allie Sherlock that she has a great voice, and as she takes to the stage from the start, it is patently obvious! In a set, of course, featuring a lot of covers, that actually got her here and, on this stage, only to be expected, but refreshingly her own stuff stands up really well, as confirmed by the reaction of the crowd. Sorry we can’t give a title to them as there was no setlist to look at, but the new single, which was really really good and should be on playlists everywhere was called ironically, ‘Ordinary’ – something it is not. It’s a banger. She seems to have a definite connection with her audience, which had a good mix of age groups, and is good for longevity.

Among the covers were brilliant versions of Tom Grennan’s ‘Found What I’ve Been Looking For’, and a phenomenal, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’. This girl has it all, likeability, confidence and above all a voice to die for. All things being equal. Next time we see her it will be bigger headline venues and production – that seems inevitable to us, and all that were in the room tonight.
