Here we are to see a lady whom we have only just become aware off, Alexandra Kay. In a really good venue the XOYO, with a capacity of 2,500, not a small space by any means. This show has been sold out for several months now, which should be no surprise as this is quite a small tour, about six gigs in total. And as we write this review, four have sold out already, not bad going at all – but she has over 2 million followers on Facebook, so we shouldn’t be too shocked.
Since the release of her independent album, ‘All I’ve Ever Known’, which topped the iTunes All Genre and Country charts globally as well as secured Top 10 positions on Billboards Country Album Charts, there has been a steady interest in Alexandra Kay. Leading to a contract with BMG Nashville and recently being touted as one to watch by several sources, again, we’re not surprised. She gave the very vocal crowd a cracking performance in a set packed with excellent tunes like, ‘That’s What Love Is’, ‘Skip This Part’, ‘I Hate Airplanes’, ‘Cupid’s A Cowgirl’, and newly released single, ‘The Last’. She has an obvious connection with her fans, whom on occasions took over the singing. She has a knack of penning catchy country songs, and we look forward to watch her career grow, which it no doubt will.
