Years & Years and Jax Jones Release ‘PLAY’

Years & Years and Jax Jones have joined musical forces on new hit track and single-in-waiting ‘Play’.

Jax Jones scored his first No.1 with Duke Dumont collab ‘I Got You’ and has been appearing in the charts ever since. ‘Play’ is one of many hot artist collaborations for the BRIT-nominated artist, producer, DJ and songwriter, who has previously worked with the likes of Demi Lovato, Stefflon Don, Mabel, Raye and Ina Wroldsen.

Jax commented on the creation of new track ‘Play’ saying, “Olly’s got one of those unique voices – he commands your attention as soon as you hear him sing – he’s a compelling artist. We had a lot of fun writing this song together and it was great to collaborate with someone so down to earth and open to new ideas. After we had written the song I started building a track with a strong UK Garage influence, as well as my love of soul and house.”

Years & Years’ dropped their second studio album ‘Palo Santo’ earlier this year, with the release continuing to make waves on the world stage. The record features single ‘Sanctify’ and hit track ‘If You’re Over Me’, which has since clocked up an impressive 200 million global streams as well as reached Platinum status in the UK with over 600,000 sales.

Band frontman Olly Alexander spoke of their recent collaboration saying, “Working with Jax was really fun and we just giggled the whole time and danced around. I wrote loads of ideas and then we picked the ones we liked and made the song out of it. I love dance music because it makes me feel invincible, but it has tension in the lyrics, so I tried to create a bit of that – like how long till you play me the damn song! I liked the idea of a track that could make you fall in love. You’re so obsessed with hearing it that it’s like you’ve been hypnotized – I wanna hear that song!”

Years & Years are gearing up for a huge arena tour this November/December whilst Jax Jones is set to play a huge show at London’s Roundhouse on 06 April 2019 – tickets are on sale Friday (30 November) at 10am from Ticketmaster See Tickets
