Friendly Fires New Single ‘Love Like Waves’

Friendly Fires are back and that can only mean one thing – summer is around the corner! And although we might not be jetting off on ‘Hawaiian Air’ just yet, their brand new tropical sounding single has sure got us in the mood to catch some waves.

‘Love Like Waves’ marks the official return of the band following a five-year hiatus from recording music as a trio. Ed Macfarlane, Edd Gibson and Jack Savidge have previously released two full length LPs, including their Mercury Prize nominated 2008 self-titled debut and its 2011 follow-up ‘Pala’ – both of which received widespread acclaim.

To coincide with the release of new single ‘Live Like Wave’s Friendly Fires played a run of UK shows including a sold out headline performance at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, the band’s first live UK appearances since 2012. Listen to their new single HERE:

During their time apart, lead singer Ed delve deeper into his passion for electronic music and released a compilation of library music called ‘Glistens’. He also collaborated with bandmate Edd and John Brooks on The Pattern Forms project and released an album ‘Peel Away The Ivy’ in 2016, whilst drummer Jack hit the club scene and the decks DJing across the country.

Friendly Fires are due to perform at various big festivals this summer, including All Points East, TRNSMT, Truck, Festival No. 6, Victorious and Lost Village Festivals. The three-piece last graced a festival stage on these shores back in September 2012 with a performance at Bestival.

Where will you be seeing them live this year?
